Children & Student Programs

Learn More about our Programs

The Children’s Ministry at LJC  is composed of kids from birth to 5th grade. They meet during service at 9:15 and 11:00 am.  The Student Ministry is aimed at kids in 6-12th grade. They meet at 9:15 upstairs in The Loft.

We are a biblically based ministry focusing on developing disciples, knowing scripture, worship and social justice.

The principal function of this ministry is to nurture/care for the kids in a manner that will help each of them grow spiritually, socially, emotionally and become independent in their faith with Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Growth

We help kids grow spiritually through the development of an interest in Bible readings and studies, fostering prayer (both personal and corporate), promoting evangelism, and the involvement in other spiritual activities of the church.

Social Growth

We help them grow socially by helping them understand their social, cultural, and intellectual context. LJC is responsible for creating a few programs that will be fit in their context and they have to feel a sense of ownership and belonging in these programs.

Emotional Growth

We focus on the emotional growing of our children/youth through the creation of specially designed programs, special guest speakers, and materials that support emotional and psychological needs (Crisis Management, Depression, Suicide, etc).

Children and youth ministry is the church’s expression of partnership with parents to co-disciple the next generation. Parents are called to disciple their children. The church is called to disciple parents and their children. It’s the same calling. When godly leaders in the church come alongside parents in order to cultivate a gospel-centered children’s ministry, it can be a gracious incubator for kids faith to grow and mature.

In other words, when the church strategically and intentionally combines it’s influence with the influence of the family, the opportunity for a more significant impact on the faith formation of children, and parents is increased. Therefore we will ask parents to be involved in the ministry and in their own discipleship programs.

During Service

Children and Youth are dismissed prior to the reading of the Scripture.

Nursery

Infants – 3 yr. olds are welcome to come directly to the nursery for the entire service.  All volunteers have had background checks for the safety of all children/youth.  Volunteers will watch, play with and entertain the children throughout service.

Pre-K Room

This room is for children age 4 – 2nd graders to engage in age appropriate gospel lessons and crafts that will grow their faith understanding.

Children's Room

Children from 3rd – 5th graders meet in the Children’s Wing to listen to Bible stories, partake in crafts and play games to help grow their faith once they are dismissed from service.

Youth

6th through 12th Graders meet only during the 9:15 service in The Loft. This is a safe place for youth to talk about issues in their lives, hang out with other kids, and learn about Jesus.
