Coronavirus (COVID-19)

What is LifeJourney Church doing?

At LifeJourney, our highest value is to love one another.  That’s what Jesus commanded. He said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12.  The Greek word used in that Bible verse is agapeAgape means sacrificial love.  Jesus calls us to do what’s right for one another even when it’s hard.

In that spirit, we’ve made some hard decisions. For the well-being of our entire congregation, and our city, we have made the following COVID-related adjustments.

Important Updates & Changes

Currently, we hold Sunday worship services online and we have a reservation system for limited sanctuary seating each week.

For the time being, there will be no 9:30 AM service.  Instead we urge everyone to join us at 11:00 AM on our LifeJourney Facebook page for a Facebook Live worship experience. We also simulcast on the home page of our website and our YouTube channel. For those who can’t join us online at 11:00 AM, we will also post the entire service on our website by 4:00 PM Sunday afternoon.

What you experience online on Sunday morning will be happening live in our sanctuary – songs of worship, interactive sharing, Scripture, a sermon, and some really good jokes.  (Ok, let’s be honest . . . some barely funny OK jokes.)  Limited seating is available for live worship by reservation here.  All who reserve seats are required to wear masks and sit in socially-distanced assigned seats.

Our Oasis Groups and Discipleship Classes continue to meet online in a face-to-face interactive Zoom format.  Please reference our Oasis Group listing for each group’s meeting details and video/dial-in instructions.  The events calendar also has the latest updates.

Our outdoor Wednesday Evening Worship moved indoors starting on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:00 pm.  Due to COVID, sanctuary capacity is limited to 38 people.  Reservations are required, as well as masks and assigned seating to ensure social distancing.  Our Wednesday Evening Worship is informal and relaxed.  Worship “unplugged.”  We sing a few songs, participate in a guided prayer or meditation, take in a brief sermon, then share prayer requests, thanksgivings, and stories about what’s going on in our lives.  Everyone is welcome, including children.  If you let us know that your children are coming, we’ll be sure to have an activity box ready for them.

Reservations can be made here.

During this time of modified operations, our church could face financial hardship.  We are taking a step of faith by limiting on-site, in-person gatherings.  We ask everyone who is able to please maintain their offerings.

We are grateful that 75% of our donors already give online!  For those who typically give in the offering plate, here are three options.

First, you can text-to-give at (317) 793-3417.

Second, you can give online on a one-time basis, or establish an ongoing online account, by visiting our give online page

Third, you can mail checks to LifeJourney Church, 2950 E. 55th Place, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

Why are we doing this?

We are making these temporary COVID-related changes because of agape (sacrificial love) – and in conformity with CDC recommendations. Some of us could get COVID-19 and experience only mild illness, but for others it can lead to chronic illness or even death. We believe it’s important to make some sacrifices to keep our congregation safe and to do our part to help fight the coronavirus epidemic.

Remember, this is temporary.  We plan to resume normal operations once the Board of Directors feels it is the right time. What a celebration that will be! Until then, let’s all do our best to stay connected through the options described above.

Thank you. We really appreciate your responsive and caring leadership regarding this. We had already planned to watch sermons online as we are both more vulnerable than the general population. We are praying regarding this societal challenge and for the well-being of all.
