It’s so important that we, as a church family, do something specific to respond to the desperate plight of our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. The Bible says, “If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,’ and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what good is that? Be doers of the Word, and not merely hearers.” James 1:22 and 2:15.
As we discussed a couple weeks ago in our sermon series on Second Corinthians: Don’t let what you can’t give keep you from giving what you can! Second Corinthians 8:12.

So here’s the plan! The leader of our Pendleton Oasis, Deb Lorenz, works as a counselor at Riverside
Junior High. A member of that school’s staff, Alona Voitko is from Ukraine. She and a group of other local Ukrainians have formed an organization called Indiana Supports Ukraine that is gathering and
shipping critical materials to wounded Ukrainian soldiers and displaced Ukrainian families. (20+) Help
Ukrainian | Facebook. They’re collecting everything from medical supplies to diapers to pacifiers to
neck braces to thermal underwear, etc., etc.
Here is how we can participate as a congregation:
- Go to the Amazon shopping list of Indiana Supports Ukraine. Here’s the link:
https://www.amazon.com/registries/custom/3O7VTMFISTIFQ/guest-view - Select the item or items from the list you wish to donate.
- When you process your order, it will ask you to select a shipping address. Alona Voitko will
appear as an option. Choose that option. - Go to our LifeJourney Facebook page and leave a message on our Ukrainian post saying, “Count
me in! I made a donation.” - Share our Facebook post with your Facebook friends and invite them to participate. Leave a
message on our Facebook post saying you’ve shared our post.
Let’s do this together! Let’s see how many donations and how many shares we can generate as a
church family. In worship service, sometimes we sing a song that says:
We are a sea of voices
We are an ocean of your praise
Gathered under one name
We are a tide that’s rising
And we cannot be contained
Gathered under one name
Standing shoulder to shoulder, we can make a difference! And by the way, if you’d rather donate
through an organization other than Indiana Supports Ukraine, that’s great too. You can still participate
in this effort!
Thank you for being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer.
