FALL DISCIPLESHIP COURSES!
Our Discipleship Courses offer the opportunity to grow our souls, gain new insights, and build new friendships within our church family. Some of these courses are meeting at the church while others are meeting via Zoom. Each course has a small registration fee due at the first class, but a full scholarship is automatically granted to anyone who checks the scholarship box on the registration form. We have the following classes coming up for our Fall Discipleship Quarter.
Understanding the Bible Better
Monday 7:00 – 8:00 pm, September 27th – October 18th, Teacher: Pastor Vivian and Robert Hicks-Ferguson, LJC, Registration fee $20.
The Bible is the backbone of the Christian faith and the best-selling book of all time. How did it come to be? Who wrote it? What does it mean to say it’s inerrant? Do translations matter? These questions and more will be addressed in Understanding the Bible Better.
Scrapbooking the Scriptures
Tuesday 7:00 – 8:30 pm, October 6th – October 27th, Teacher: Steph Branson & Jen Darchuck, LJC, Registration fee $20 (scholarships not available for this course due to supply costs).
This class will teach you how to use the art of scrapbooking as you reflect on the scriptures. You do not need to have any experience or supplies to participate in this class. Each week you will contemplate a selected verse. As you focus on that verse you will be taught scrapbooking techniques to express yourself as a response to the scripture. At the end of the class, you will have the beginning of your very own scrapbooking scripture journal.
DISCIPLESHIP 101 UNIT 2 – Building Relationship with God
Thursday 7:00 – 8:30 pm, September 9th – September 30, Teacher: Pastor David, Zoom, Registration fee $10.
If you would like to build a closer personal relationship with God, this course is for you! In it, we spend four weeks learning about a variety of different ways to communicate more effectively with God through prayer and Bible study. Most people think there’s only one way to pray and only one way to study the Bible. Truth is, Christians throughout the ages have developed a rich variety of ways of praying and engaging Scripture. The goal of this course is to learn about those different approaches and, in the process, discover what works best for you, so you can deepen your personal connection to God.
Unit 2 is part of our flagship Discipleship 101 course that we encourage everyone at LJC to experience. The course is divided into four 4-week units. “Building Relationship With God” is the second unit, but don’t worry if you missed the first. The units can be taken in any order. When you complete all four units, you’ll be eligible to become a voting member of LJC.
Remember, this course is on Zoom. Easy access! To register, click register button below and fill out the form.
