Some thoughts from Pastor Jeff…

Yesterday the President used an offensive term to besmirch people who live in Africa, as well as Haiti. The term he used is so vulgar we chose not to repeat it here. Racist comments about any group of people is not a political issue; it’s a moral issue. In fact, one of the most eloquent reactions to the President’s statement came from a Republican Congresswoman from Utah. Read Rep. Mia Love’s statement.

The Bible teaches that words have the power to shape reality (Romans 4:17; Proverbs 18:21). That’s why it’s so important that we not be silent or sit idle when terrible words are used. As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, “The ultimate measure of a [person] is not where [you] stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where [you] stand at times of challenge and controversy.”
