Fall Discipleship Courses on Zoom!

Discipleship 101: Unit 1 – Following Jesus

Sundays 1:00 – 2:30 pm, 4 weeks, starting September 13
Teacher: Pastor David – Fee $10

This is our flagship course that we encourage everyone to take at one point or another.  During this Zoom-based coronavirus period, we’re offering this course in four 4-week units.  The first unit will consist of four thought-provoking discussions about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.  If you register, you must covenant to attend all four discussions.  Subsequent units, which you can register for later, will cover prayer and Bible study, church life together, and how you fit into the work of God in this world.  When you complete these units, you will be eligible to become a voting member of LifeJourney, if you wish.

Faith in the Shadows: Finding Christ in the Midst of Doubt

Sundays 6:00 – 7:00 pm, 13 weeks, starting September 13
Teacher: Pastor Chris – No fee, but you will purchase your own book

In this course, we will study the book by the same title written by Austin Fischer.  We will cover one chapter per week.  As we discuss the text, we will look in the face of our doubts and discover that God can handle them.  We will learn that faith is not the absence of doubt, but the pressing through it.  We will experience that what is brought into the light, God, the great physician, can finally heal.  Each participant will need to purchase a copy of the book.

How to Be an Anti-Racist

Offered through various Oasis Groups, 4 weeks, beginning mid-September
Teacher: Pastor Jeff and Robert Ferguson – No fee, but you will purchase your own book

Recently Pastor Jeff announced this new course and it’s already oversubscribed.  So, we’re going to Plan B.  A number of our Oasis Groups will offer this course beginning in mid-September.  You do not need to formally register; you can just show up.  We will soon announce exactly which Oases will be offering the course and when, so you can pick the night of the week that works best for you.   In the course, we will study the book entitled “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram Kendi.  Pastor Jeff and Robert are preparing video segments that will introduce each of the four discussions and lay out some challenging thoughts.  Then your group will grapple with deep discuss questions.
