On Tuesday, July 17, 2019, the staff of LifeJourney Church responded to President Trump’s statement, “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough.”
Pastor Vivian spoke about the power of hate in our culture and said, “We cannot let gay, racial, and ethnic slurs and jokes go unchallenged, even among friends! Our complicit silence gives the perpetrators permission to continue.”
PastorDavid quoted scripture stating Jesus came to “break down the walls of hostility that divide us,” Ephesians 2:14. and taught us to reach across the ethnic barriers to create communities of radical love. Luke 10:25-37.
In their statement, the staff of LifeJourney call our nation to “live into the teachings of Jesus,” to “respectfully debate the substance of political issues about which we disagree,” and most importantly to abandon hate speech.
